History Comes To Life in Boone

In a state known for its "Historical Dramas," Boone's Horn in the West is an inspiring, insightful look at the early pioneers of the Boone Area Appalachians. This outdoor drama in Boone tells the tale of Daniel Boone's adventures in the High Country and local pioneers' little-known, pivotal role in winning the American Revolution at the Battle of Kings Mountain. 

The 2024 Season is from June 21st to August 10th. Shows will be Tuesday through Saturday at 8 p.m.

You won't want to miss this inspiring evening under the stars, with its beautiful outdoor stage adorned with native trees and rhododendron, first-rate performances, and dramatic and spectacular effects.

Don't miss adjoining attractions. Hickory Ridge History Museum is a wonderfully interpreted classic collection of historic, atmospheric log cabins. During a tour through the museum, you'll watch demonstrations of a variety of pioneer skills, such as blacksmithing, weaving, hearthside cooking, and cornhusk crafts. On Saturday mornings, stop in at the Watauga County Farmers' Market before a tour of the museum for fresh flowers and produce, a tasty meal from local food trucks, handmade crafts, and more.

The neighboring Daniel Boone Native Gardens showcases the High Country's world-class biodiversity. Daniel Boone's nephew Jesse Boone lived in a log cabin in the area, and logs from his cabin were used to construct what is now known as the "Squire Boone Cabin" which stands within the Gardens.
